The play, which is based on the children’s novel by Michael Morpurgo, will now run until at least February 2013, meaning there is plenty of time for fans to go and watch it again and again.

The Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye reports that the production has been playing to 100 per cent audiences every week and currently has advance ticket sales of £4 million.

This is well ahead of even perennial West End hits such as Phantom of the Opera, which is currently recording £2.5 million in advance sales.

“War Horse has now reached the happy state of being a cultural phenomenon,” commented Mr Bamigboye.

The popularity of the play may increase even further in January 2012, which is when the movie version starring Jeremy Irvine will be released in UK cinemas.

Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail said he watched the show in Milton Keynes this week and found many good things about it, notably Summer Strallen in the same role played by Ginger Rogers in the movie version.

He said she “positively shimmers” in a white gown similar to the one in the film during one of the dances and can certainly move well.

However, Mr Bamigboye suggested a few changes based on his opinions and those from his fellow audience members, which included clipping the plot a little to allow for more dancing, introducing bolder choreography and putting in more jokes.

It was reported by the Daily Mail in February that the heirs of Irving Berlin were still to decide whether or not a West End run of Top Hat would be going ahead.

However, it appears they will allow it and the production could move to London in spring 2012.

Lead actors Clare Foster and Sean Palmer will get the chance to move indoors when the show heads to the Novello Theatre in October, the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye reports.

Although the exact dates have not yet been announced, the columnist states that it should have a good run “well into next year”, but will have to move or close in late August 2012 to make room for another production that is set to open at the same venue.

Crazy For You will replace Betty Blue Eyes, which announced closing notices this week to the surprise of critics and the media.

It will now close its curtains on September 24th 2011 instead of January 28th 2012 after failing to make enough money to cover its costs.

The event is an homage to the flamboyant singer’s 40th birthday in 1986, when he threw a summer garden party at his home in London and invited his friends and family to come along and wear a hat.

As a result, the Dominion is to open its doors between 12:00 and 17:00 BST on September 5th 2011 in order for people to remember him, eat cake and sandwiches and raise money for Aids charity the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

Poignantly, there will be footage of Queen with Mercury as the frontman playing on a video wall while visitors sip coffee and tea.

They can also take a look at memorabilia including his childhood stamp collection, collated by the British Postal Museum & Archive.

It is likely that the performance of We Will Rock You that night will see plenty of audience members still in costumes.

The musical was recently given an extension and will now be booking until March 24th 2012.

The musical arrives at the Shaftesbury Theatre on August 31st 2011 and the two performers told Digital Spy they are both loving the 1980s power ballads they have to sing.

Lee Collins revealed he has a soft spot for I Can’t Fight This Feeling, while Ward had particular praise for Here I Go Again.

Ward also said he is thrilled to be playing the same character as Tom Cruise, who will star in the forthcoming movie version.

Meanwhile, Lee Collins joked that he is getting phone calls from Alec Baldwin, who is portraying his character in the film, to discuss how he is going to make particular scenes work.

The two performers added that it will be worth watching Rock of Ages for the hair alone, as they both have bouffant curls.

Earlier this month, Ward told the Daily Mail he was in tears when he was told he was being dropped from Simon Cowell’s record label back in April.
